NYC Board of Elections
Poll Site Reporting & Locator Apps
VGD teamed up with the New York City Board of Elections to create two new mobile apps for Election Day: a poll site locator for New York City voters and a reporting app for Poll Site Monitors.
To improve internal communications on election day, we created the BOE Reporting app. Poll Site Monitors do routine checks of all 1,000+ poll sites on election day to ensure everything is in order. For the BOE headquarters to keep track of issues and poll site monitoring teams, each team will be armed with a tablet pre-loaded with the BOE Reporting App to submit reports live. Key functionality includes: Log In; Check into a Poll Site; Complete and submit the Poll Site Survey; Add Photos; Check Alerts.
We eliminated paper forms and replaced an outdated process. Poll site monitors were able to use the tablet app to submit accurate data supplemented with photographs and pre-populated selections. Data collection was faster and automatically uploaded to the BOE servers for follow-up or call to action (e.g. voting machine repairs). The pilot program in 2012 was installed on 20 Samsung Galaxy Tabs and in 2013, the Board to Elections expanded this to 400 tablets.
